Overview

Antech Diagnostics, the largest exclusively commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the nation, is in search of a Training & Development Director - Sales Training working out of our Fountain Valley office and reporting directly to the Vice President, Human Resources.

 

As part of the VCA Family, which operates the largest network of freestanding, full-service animal hospitals in the nation, Antech Diagnostics delivers state of the art testing and consulting services to practicing veterinarians.  Our diagnostic spectrum of tests in areas of chemistry, pathology, endocrinology, serology, hematology, and microbiology enhance the veterinarians ability to detect, diagnose, evaluate and prevent disease and other conditions affecting animals.

 

The Training & Development Director - Sales Training will direct the organizational training strategy including the design, development and management of programs that drive a learning culture and delivers business results while ensuring alignment with Antech’s culture and values.  If you are looking for the challenge of building the talent development strategy from the ground up, initially focusing on sales training, then this is the opportunity for you!

 

 

 

Responsibilities

In this newly created position you will work directly with the leadership team to develop and deliver on the overall talent development needs of the Company.  Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Develop initiatives to advance employees sales effectiveness, business excellence and core competencies.
  • Provide strategy, guidance, and direction to the sales leadership team to ensure successful course planning and execution.
  • Determine training requirements by evaluating sales and marketing strategic plans and current sales results; conferring with sales leadership; reviewing results of manager coaching and evaluating training effectiveness.
  • Interact with sales leadership and training representatives to develop training curricula specific to department needs and ensure that department staff are effectively trained on policies, processes, and requirements.
  • Effectively train the sales team to master product sales initiatives as well as develop and grow skill sets to match our evolving business.
  • Work closely with operations to create/optimize product training/certification programs to ensure appropriate product/therapeutic knowledge to support a consultative sales force.
  • Develop enterprise-wide training materials/programs and oversee the on-boarding of new hires.
  • Consult with management to understand the business priorities and design learning and development programs accordingly.
  • Manage multiple complex blended learning projects simultaneously and develop training programs for new hires and on-going development including e-learning, workshops, simulations, gamification, certifications, job aids and on-the-job learning activities.
  • Develop long range goals and objectives.  Provide overall direction for strategic learning and development, aligning programs with business initiatives.
  • Build and analyze the return on investment of all programs and take necessary action to meet departmental objectives.
  • Perform needs assessments, anticipate and analyze business needs; identify potential talent gaps and ensure alignment of learning solutions with business goals.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and be an accomplished trainer with minimum of 6 – 8 years business experience; including 4+ years of learning and development experience. Qualified candidates will have proven strategic, analytical and implementation skills and possess the following: 

 

  • Proven track record of consulting to business leaders and designing, developing, and implementing high impact and innovative learning and development programs
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning and negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated experience using instructional technology (simulation, online, web based, etc…)
  • Strategic thinker and visionary leader
  • Strong leader able to influence without formal authority
  • Excellent people skills; likeable, motivational and genuine
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
