Overview

Antech Diagnostics, the largest exclusively commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the nation, is in search of a  Human Resources Generalist working out of our Fountain Valley office and reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources.

 

As part of the VCA Family, which operates the largest network of freestanding, full-service animal hospitals in the nation, Antech Diagnostics delivers state of the art testing and consulting services to practicing veterinarians.  Our diagnostic spectrum of tests in areas of chemistry, pathology, endocrinology, serology, hematology, and microbiology enhance the veterinarians ability to detect, diagnose, evaluate and prevent disease and other conditions affecting animals.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist will support key areas of the Human Resources Department which includes, but not limited to, employee relations, recruitment, employee engagement, leave of absences, worker’s compensation, procedure development, and HRIS.  In addition, the Human Resources Generalist will support our Canadian division.

 

In this position you will have accountability for developing, directing and executing related Human Resource programs and practices in a dynamic, transformational environment while advocating the use of best practices and progressive, cost-effective methodologies. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Administer Leave Management program and process.  Ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives and HR processes and systems.  Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for both exempt and nonexempt personnel and temporary staff as needed, including seasonal hiring.  Conducts job analysis and prepare and update job descriptions.
  • Assist in the coordination of employee activities such as Employee of the Quarter, Lab Week, Annual Holiday Party, etc.
  • Drive the job analysis and job description process.  Perform testing on exempt/nonexempt status.
  • Identify educational needs of staff as it relates to job performance and develop and deliver human resources training programs.  
  • Assist in driving Antech Diagnostic’s culture throughout the organization.  Ensure that HR policies, programs and procedures reflect the culture.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be an accomplished Generalist with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Human Resources with increasing responsibilities.  Qualified candidates will have a proven strategic, analytical and implementation skills and possess the following:      

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field.
  • Ability to engage in reasoned dialogue on all issues, be flexible and affect change.
  • Strong internal customer focus with solid judgment and critical thinking.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational analysis, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, leave management, federal and state employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation skills.  Comfortable speaking before groups and during meetings.  Able to establish and cultivate strong working relationships within HR and across Antech Diagnostics to influence and lead process improvements and changes.  
  • Proactive and able to organize and prioritize with limited guidance; work independently or within teams and meet demanding deadlines. High degree of professionalism and personal integrity to maintain confidentiality, safeguard employee information and handle documents with sensitivity.
  • Experience in improving internal service.
  • Relevant industry experience a plus.
