    Antech Diagnostics, the largest exclusively commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the nation, is in search of a Grossing Technician working out of our Fountain Valley, CA  and reporting directly to the Histology Supervisor.

    Responsibilities

    Antech Diagnostics is looking for qualified lab technicians/technologists with experience in histology.  We are looking for candidates who have completed a histology certificate and/or degree program; or experienced histology technicians. Candidates should be proficient in grossing, embedding, cutting, microtomy, stains (including special stains), and IHC.  ASCP certification is not required but preferred.

     

    The Histotechnician will process tissue samples for Pathologists using grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining and special staining techniques. 

    • Assures accurate and timely delivery of casework (and collateral materials) to on-site & off-site pathologists.
    • May be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting virtual microscopy systems which provide remote viewing & digital slide analysis capability to pathologists.
    • Tests performed may be more routine and less complex.
    • Exercises judgment in evaluating and reporting results in consultation with veterinarians/pathologists and others.
    • Works under close to moderate supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment.
    • Works on tasks that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
    • Ability to accurately embed an average of 60 blocks per hour.
    • Ability to accurately cut an average of 37 routine blocks per hour.

     

    Qualifications

    • S. in Biology or Life Sciences, or certificate from accredited Histology Technician program
    • 2-3 years Histology experience
    • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT-ASCP) or Histotechician for histology-specific (HT-ASCP) a plus
    • Attention to detail
    • Organized with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Positive, can-do attitude
    • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as appropriate
    • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office
