    Antech Diagnostics, the largest exclusively commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the nation, is in search of a Medical Director reporting directly to President.

                        

    As part of the VCA Family, which operates the largest network of freestanding, full-service animal hospitals in the nation, Antech Diagnostics delivers state of the art testing and consulting services to practicing veterinarians.  Our diagnostic spectrum of tests in areas of chemistry, pathology, endocrinology, serology, hematology, and microbiology enhance the veterinarians ability to detect, diagnose, evaluate and prevent disease and other conditions affecting animals.

    Responsibilities

    The Medical Director provides leadership to Antech’s medical groups focused on supporting the development and introduction of new innovations in diagnostics, medical outreach, and partnerships with universities and professional organizations.  The Medical Director sets the strategic vision of the medical groups creating opportunities for continued development and growth.

    • Provide veterinary medical leadership throughout the organization
    • Develop evidence-based clinical insights from data and clinical studies
    • Collaborate with clients, key opinion leaders, and industry associations to influence advances in veterinary medicine that result from innovation
    • Work with Research & Development to prioritize investments in diagnostic innovation
    • Partner with marketing and staff development teams to design practical tools and continuing education to support Antech’s objectives
    • Provide continuing education through partnerships with universities, conferences, publications, and other professional organizations
    • Present at Antech, client, industry and continuing education events
    • Lead a team of highly talented veterinarians and professionals, providing individual development, attracting key talent, and cultivating leadership skills in a growing and dynamic team

     

     

    Qualifications

     

    The Ideal candidate will have:

    • DVM degree, or equivalent from an accredited university with license in good standing
    • Board certification strongly preferred; advanced degree strongly preferred
    • 7+ years’ experience as a practicing veterinarian; at least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
    • Ability to align diverse perspectives to reach resolution for key initiatives
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence others to adopt new approaches
    • Strong communication skills both verbally (including presentation skills to large audiences) and written (correspondence, publications)
    • Client focus mindset and experience supporting veterinary practices in the adoption of new diagnostic innovations
    • In-depth veterinary medicine knowledge and expertise, including diagnostic testing, current treatment options, and monitoring protocols
    • Experience analyzing medical data with the ability to develop hypotheses for data investigation and/or clinical studies
    • Excellent reputation within the veterinary community
    • Ability to build a supportive team environment
    • Excellent client management and business literacy skills
    • Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues with ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
    • Must be able to travel as needed
