Project Manager - Lab Operations

Responsibilities

Our Project Manager, Lab Operations will oversees the financial planning, management, and coordination of assigned projects including scope definition, planning and execution. This includes assessment of submitted requirements, creation and communication of end-to-end project plans, clearly outlining dependencies and ownership  Additionally you will be responsible for:

  • Establish, define, and implement objectives and goals for assigned projects.
  • Liaise with project personnel to execute project plans and achieve set targets.
  • Organize and lead meetings to discuss or communicate changes in project plans
  • Confer with upper management and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective implementation of a project.
  • Submit weekly, monthly or annual reports to Chief Operating Officer on project progress.
  • Ensure the availability of materials and resources required for a project.
  • Plan project processes and set deadlines to meet established objectives.
  • Supervise the operations of project personnel and assign tasks as necessary.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and manage contingencies that may negatively affect a project.
  • Ensure compliance with project quality standards, procedures, and guidelines
  • Conduct surveys/analysis to determine current or future stakeholder needs and requirements.
  • Monitor the performance of project personnel to identify areas that require improvement.
  • Carry out assessments to determine the need for adjustment in project procedures or processes.
  • Develop appropriate sub-plans such as a communications plan, quality assurance plan, resource plan, procurement plan, deployment plan, etc.
  • Manage a project including issue/risk identification and resolution, change management, reporting and internal/external communication, financial management, metrics, etc.
  • Identify, document, and prioritize project change requests and facilitate approval process. Re-plan as necessary based on changes.
  • Set and manage expectations with resource manager(s) regarding allocation to the project and performance expectations.
  • Execute project closeout activities including turnover to appropriate operations teams.
  • Collaborate with other groups and departments directly to ensure a successful project.
  • Follow -up and report on key metrics including customer scarification. 

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years project management experience or 5 years of experience in a laboratory operations related position
  • PMP certification preferred
  •  
  • Ability to build a supportive team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast paced environment
  • Strong organization skills, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including documentation of findings and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment and build relationships
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to travel as needed to meet the needs of lab operations
