Antech Diagnostics, the largest exclusively commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the nation, is in search of a Grossing Technician working out of our Fountain Valley, California Laboratory and reporting directly to the Histology Supervisor.

Full Time: Tuesday - Saturday  (11:00 am – 7:30pm)

This position will be responsible for following established grossing procedures, assisting in Histology as needed with embedding specimens, preparing microscopic tissue slides for diagnostic purposes, performing tissue stains, and assisting with histology and cytology.

• Gross submitted tissue per SOP and protocols with high level of quality
• Prioritize stat and manifest blocks
• Properly identify, orient, ink, and trim submitted tissues.
• Produce accurate and legible notes with code description that provide the Pathologist with a clear understanding of the sections taken.
• Identify problem and special handling cases.
• Load and operate the Sakura V.I.P. machines when needed.
• Gross tissue for specific re-gross requests when requested in timely manner.
• Communicate with Pathologists when necessary.
• Perform maintenance on tissue processers per Maintenance logs.
• Rotate into Accessioning and Receiving as requested.

• B.S. in Biology or other Life Sciences. Coursework in anatomy/physiology required
• HT or course work in accredited Histology Technician program strongly preferred
• Practical lab experience
• Ability to work with a scalpel and formalin-fixed tissues of various size, shape, and condition.
• Is detail-oriented and accurate
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
• Possesses good computer skills.
• Is organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
