Antech Diagnostics, the largest exclusively commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the nation, is in search of a Laboratory Assistant working out of our Morrisville, North Carolina GLP Lab and reporting directly to our Laboratory Director.


As part of the VCA Family, which operates the largest network of freestanding, full-service animal hospitals in the nation, Antech Diagnostics delivers state of the art testing and consulting services to practicing veterinarians.  Our diagnostic spectrum of tests in areas of chemistry, pathology, endocrinology, serology, hematology, and microbiology enhance the veterinarians ability to detect, diagnose, evaluate and prevent disease and other conditions affecting animals.


The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for processing and transcribing data in the laboratory system and redirect them as necessary.

  • Understands appropriate specimen management procedures. Prepares specimens for analysis and determines acceptability of samples within guidelines. Resolves sample handling problems or refers problems to designated Technologists, and/or Supervisor.
  • Processes data and transcribes data in Antech’s laboratory computer system and sends or prints reports in various formats.
  • Performs select assays in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, RIA, EIA and Electrophoresis under direct supervision of a technologist and/or supervisor.
  • Interprets QC data to determine the acceptability of the data.
  • Performs and documents quality control and equipment maintenance according to approved standard operating procedures.
  • Performs minor troubleshooting and routine maintenance under direction of a Technologist and/or Supervisor. Maintains records and documentation.
  • Assists in the performance of validation of equipment and test methods as defined.
  • Review and follow required SOPs to direct the conduct of procedures and processes to assure completion of studies under the applicable regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management to maintain GLP compliance and operation of the GLP laboratory at Antech Diagnostics.


  • BS Degree in Science related field preferred
  • Lab experience is a plus
  • GLP or related regulatory experience is helpful, but not required
  • General science background
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
