Overview

Antech Diagnostics, the largest exclusively commercial veterinary diagnostic laboratory in the nation, is in search of a Protein Chemistry Scientist.

Responsibilities

This position is primarily responsible for planning, organizing and performing optimized protocols for the large-scale production and purification of proteins and antibodies from bacterial cells.  The position will also include conjugations of proteins.

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

The candidate is expected to manage daily, weekly and monthly laboratory activities, such as monitoring of equipment, completion and review of equipment logbooks, periodic laboratory cleaning and managing the reagents and laboratory waste.

Must be able to follow SOPs in performance of laboratory testing to complete assigned tasks to meet timelines and ensure quality.

Proficiency with computers including word processing, spreadsheets and relevant scientific software is desirable.

This position will work collaboratively across teams to ensure products are meeting the requirements of the design and assay.

Strong verbal and written communication skills including documentation of experiments in a lab notebook and controlled documents.  Exhibits flexibility and adaptability as projects and goals shift.

Qualifications

Experience with methodologies for biomolecules, such as proteins and conjugates is preferred.

 

Experience with E.coli protein expression systems with basic understanding of protein purification techniques, biochemistry and structure of proteins.

 

Knowledge/experience in, but not limited to, UV-Vis, Fluorescence, electrophoresis, transfection

 

Knowledge/experience in carrying out small- and large-scale protein expression, aseptic bacterial and cell culture techniques, protein purification and characterization, and biochemical studies.

 

Proficient in the use and troubleshooting of analytical instruments, data processing, analyzing and interpreting results.

 

Education:

MS in Protein Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with at least 2 years of experience in protein expression and purification

BS plus 4 years of related work experience
